Showmax Ubuthe Uzobuya: Bring Back Lost Lover
Design & Experiential

Context
In South Africa, abandonment does not end when someone leaves. It lingers in unanswered questions, financial strain, and emotional limbo. Stories like these are lived every day, but rarely spoken about.
Insight
When love disappears without closure, people look for answers anywhere. Across South Africa, handwritten “bring back lost lover” posters reveal a belief system where hope fills the gaps left behind.
Execution
We launched the show by entering the space where this belief already lives. Instead of advertising, we created a collection of “bring back lost lover” remedies, designed to feel real and culturally familiar. Hand-distributed at taxi ranks, malls, and commuter hubs, the bottles appeared without explanation, just like the posters that inspired them, each one subtly leading back to the show.
Results
The campaign sparked curiosity, conversation, and organic discovery, turning a show about abandonment into something people could encounter in the same spaces where those stories already exist.
